You CAN Survive Natural Disasters with Emergency Preparation and Planning!
We live in a changing world and many of us are feeling uncertain about what the future holds in store for us. Emergency preparation is essential to surviving the coming earth changes.
Global warming, climate change, as well as severe and unusual weather patterns are affecting all areas of the globe. Earthquakes, volcanic activity, tsunamis, tropical storms and hurricanes seem to be increasing in frequency and severity. Disaster news reports are also on the rise. Though there may be little that can be done to stop natural disasters from occurring emergency preparedness can help see us through these times. Disaster preparedness involves a lot more than just storing some canned food and hoping for the best. Having a disaster plan in place to know what you and your family should do in the event of an emergency is a great place to start. Having a survival guide to refer to in case there is an extended period of time for such an emergency may even save lives. Knowing what to put in your emergency kit in the event you need to evacuate your home is important too. Preparing For Change provides the guidance, information and resources to help you prepare.
When victims of natural disasters were asked if they ever thought this could happen to them most said NO. Most of us don't want to think such a catastrophe could ever happen to us or our loved ones, but when disaster strikes ANYONE can be at risk, at ANY time. Emergency preparation can be essential to your survival.
Imagine that the electrical grid is down and you have no power. As a result you have no water to drink and toilets don't flush. The gas has been shut off and you may be without heat or a way to prepare a meal. The lights are out and all you have is a single flashlight. Imagine there is no telephone service or internet access. All the businesses are closed and you are without any kind of emergency services. What will you do until emergency help arrives? What if the disaster is so serious that help may not arrive for weeks or at all and it is not safe to evacuate your home? Emergency preparedness can also mean the difference between emergency evacuation of your home or sheltering in place with water, food, backup power, first aid supplies and any other emergency supplies necessary for family survival. Preparedness for certain natural disasters such as hurricanes, flooding, earthquakes and tsunamis may require emergency evacuation and in such an event having a disaster plan and an emergency kit will be important to your survival until you can relocate to a safer place. (your family disaster plan should also include relocation areas and a map with alternate routes to get there if roads are blocked) Government shelters will be crowded and may not be the safest or best place for you and your family to be.
(remember the Super Dome in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina?) Disaster preparedness is all about providing clean water, food, first aid, and a safe place to be during natural disasters. Being prepared for any emergency and safety for children, the elderly and even your pets should be part of your emergency plan too. Our family has spent the past seven years preparing for change in an unstable world that we believe is headed for economic collapse, abrupt climate change and serious earth changes. We have seen an increase in the amount and magnitude of earthquakes worldwide, hurricanes, tropical storms and bizarre weather patterns around the globe. Volcanic activity is also on the rise and we monitor these events daily so we can post any danger alerts or disaster news on our website. Preparedness and living sustainably is something we can speak of with experience and we have chosen to share what we have learned so you and your family can be better prepared for whatever lies ahead.
